Silver Star Search & Rescue (SSSAR) serves an area that takes in the City of Washougal in Clark County, Washington. SSSAR is a non-profit organization based out of Washougal, Washington. Their headquarters is centrally located between the wilderness areas of the Columbia Gorge and the backcountry surrounding Mt. St. Helens. They have been providing search & rescue services for Clark County (and Skamania & Cowlitz counties) for over 50 years. Their volunteer members are on call 24 hours a day, and the organization has no paid staff. SSSAR responds to wilderness and urban emergencies and performs search & rescue missions as requested by the Department of Emergency Management.

Silver Star SAR executes dozens of missions each year. As is the case with search and rescue organizations, their missions can require technical rescue skills and expertise.

The Southwest Washington Search and Rescue (SWWSAR) is an organization made up of volunteer members.
