SAR-202 Rope Rescue Technician

This course is offered at Clackamas Community College, but is not offered every term.

This course is designed to progressively take students from basic, over-the-bank rescues, to more vertical scenarios. Students learn and practice such skills as preplanning, size-up and scene management, ascending and descending, belaying, mechanical advantage systems, lowering and raising systems, patient packaging and litter attending, tethers, and highlines. Completion of this RRT (Formerly TRR:TL) class satisfies the requirements in NFPA 1006 and NFPA 2500 (Formerly NFPA 1670) for Technical Rope Technician level training and is recognized by Oregon DPSST. In addition, Technician level training is mandatory for inclusion at different levels on many Federal Emergency Management Agency teams.
