DPSST / Rope Rescue Operator (RRO)

Description

This class is provided using the DPSST curriculum. DPSST classes are our most commonly completed NFPA-based classes. DPSST classes are eligible for DPSST certs only (not eligible for R3 International certs).

This is a Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) training course.

This class is available as a Flex Option Course in the DPSST / Rope Rescue Operator or Rope Rescue Operator & Technician COMBO Course  where you can register for just the RRO course, the RRT course, or the RRO + RRT COMBO course.

This 3 day course provides students with the fundamentals of rope rescue in the low-angle environment. Students learn and practice rescue skills including knots, anchor systems, belay operations, ascending and descending lines, basic mechanical advantage systems, patient packaging and litter attending. Students learn how to safely navigate low-angle or over-the-bank rescue situations and assist rescuers in high-angle environments.

REMS Standard Of Rescue | This class meets or exceeds all the Rope Operations / Technician standards for most Rapid Extraction Module (REM) Systems Requirements. These classes allow REMS teams to practice with equipment required in the minimum gear list provided by region 6 and FIRESCOPE standards. Since 2015 we have trained over 40 REMS teams. We have also helped review reccomended standards and assisted teams in building gear profiles that meet their region and training scopes. As always, this class is only the first step in becoming a competent responder; practice, experience, and judgement are all needed after the completion of the course.
